Kickstarter Roundup: Week of 07 Oct 2013

Well some weeks you get very few interesting Kickstarters, others you get a good lot.

First up, this little gem. I quite like the concept of “alternative” fairy tale characters.. guess I just like looking at the other side of the coin.

Concept art looks good and their renders look interesting. I’m especially fond of Steampunk Belle and the Twiddle Sisters, and the Jabberwock looks to be some 40k Chaos Dragon or Spawn… heh idea there.

Hmm would be interesting if they gender-flip Dracula. Or not. 🙂

What I don’t like is the high International shipping (which is USPS’ problem) and the restrictive pledges for international folks. I’m still on the fence, and with Belle and Twiddle’s renders as sight unseen, I’m not 100% sold on this Kickstarter. Going to wait to see what other unlocks there be, before I decide.

Next on the timeline — yes I’m going by time to KS end — is this showy piece.

I always am a bit of a sucker for coinage, and this one goes right up that alley. I usually don’t prefer to look at unfunded Kickstarter (as they have a good chance not to get funded) but this one has some promise. Still, 50k is a bit of a stretch.

Design looks good and they do look to know what they are doing. Still, pledge levels aren’t that great.. it’s more as a collector’s item than actual RPG prop, though you can still use it for that. Might be more as a curio though.

Talking about RPG support stuff, here’s something that might be useful.

Well crafted wood products is another thing that I like to handle. This KS is funded and they look to have experience in this, so some of you RPGers might want to take a look.

Personally, I was thinking about ebony, but man, that wood’s expensive. Internal dimensions are 13/16″ high x 7/8″ wide x 5-1/8″ long, with expanded being 6-11/16″ long, so it’s not actually very big. Still, if you have a need…

And.. I’m not really into this style, but I know some people are.

Not really a fan of the Chibi/ SD/ Nendroid style, but they are cute. And looks to be reasonably affordable as KS pledges go. And very close to being funded too, so only really the usual production risks.

And that’s a wrap. 🙂
